instructional practices

As a learning organization, Two Rivers Public Charter School believes that a thoughtful learning community both roots its practice in theory and demonstrates theory in practice.

Our core instructional practices were developed by reviewing research and trying out ideas in the classroom. In an effort to contribute to the improvement of education at Two Rivers and beyond our doors, we offer these instructional practices to help engage every child in rigorous and joyful learning experiences.

The following pages showcase the instructional practices at Two Rivers that contribute to our outcomes for deeper learning:
  • Arts Integration
  • Critique
  • Learning Expeditions
  • Problem-based Tasks in Math
  • Student-led Conferences
  • Student-led IEPs
  • Teaching and Assessing Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills

Two Rivers Public Charter School's mission is to nurture a diverse group of students to become lifelong, active participants in their own education, develop a sense of self and community, and become responsible and compassionate members of society.
Learn With Two Rivers is supported by a generous grant from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education to support the dissemination of best practices with DC-area educators.
